Lida Mahdavi Regenberg was born in Tehran. She studied at the art colleges in Hamburg and Munich, where she encountered western painting traditions. These complied with her inherent sense for strong shapes and colours.
Deliberate deformations, expressive and intensified shapes, and the strong colours can be found in all of her artwork. Instead of representing aesthetic realities, her paintings try to express her subjective experiences.
The messages of Lida Mahdavi Regenberg paintings are rooted in mythological, in societal political as well as everyday life stories.
The beginning of the islamic revolution in the 1980s lead to an intense contestation of oriental shapes.
'Geometrie' and 'ornementation' are definitely the two keywords for her work.
Solo and group exhibitions held in Germany (Munich, Berlin, Koblenz), Egypt (Alexandria), Thailand (Bangkok), Brasil (Rio de Janeiro), France (Paris) and in Belgium (Brussels).
